The Westview Community Organization (WCO) is a neighborhood organization encompassing the entire Westview boundaries. It originated in 1974 when Altoona Place, Rogers Avenue and several other street clubs came together to deal with rainfall flooding. The Westview Community Organization survived the flood, and adopted the motto: "Working together to make our neighborhood a better place to live - one that is beautiful, safe, and secure." It is a welcome mat for new residents interested in the community, gardening, exercise and recreation in nearby John A. White Park.
The area residents are involved in an array of activities: working with parents, children and schools, block parties, Thanksgiving baskets for senior citizens, maintance of the triangular parks, and others. The Westview Community Organization is creating an oasis of community activity and neighborhood revitalization in the area of Westview to Interstate 20, Langhorn to Cascade Road to Beecher, South Gordon to Westmeath to Derry, and Ralph David Albernathy Drive.
