Atlanta Streets Alive is coming to West End! Atlanta Streets Alive temporarily closes streets to automobile traffic, so residents can use them for bicycling, walking, dancing, playing and fun ways to explore our community streets in a safer, healthier, more livable way. Restaurants will open their doors and food trucks will be available to those looking for a bite to eat. There will be fun for the entire family as we all bring the community to life with music and activity.
This will be the first Atlanta Streets Alive event in SW Atlanta. Past events have drawn up to 82,000+ attendees.
The following streets will be closed to car traffic from 1:00p – 7:00p on April 20th:
- Ralph David Abernathy Blvd (from Langhorn St SW to Murphy Ave SW) all lanes
- Murphy Ave SW (from Ralph David Abernathy to Lee St Connector) all lanes
- Residential White St SW (from Peeples St to Lee St SW) all lanes
The following streets will be open to car traffic as usual to ensure access around and through event:
- North – South Traffic:
- Langhorn Street SW
- Lawton Street
- Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard
- Lee Street SW
- W Whitehall Street
East-West street access will not be affected by streets closed by event.
The Westview Community Organization held its annual holiday potluck luncheon at Fire Station 17. The WCO cooked a turkey and neighbors contributed delicious side dishes. The party is a nice way for neighbors to share a family-style meal, spend time together in a non-meeting setting and reflecting on the past year.

Westview would like to congratulation the 2014 Neighborhood Planning Unit T (NPU-T) officers:

What is an NPU? Neighborhood Planning Units (NPUs) are citizen advisory councils that make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on zoning, land-use, licensing, and other planning issues. When planning-related changes are necessary within Westview the neighborhood organization will make a recommendation to NPU-T. Westview is one of seven Atlanta neighborhoods that makes up NPU-T.
Help Spread Holiday Cheer!
The Westview Youth Committee will be collecting items for children that may not receive presents otherwise for the holidays.
If you are aware of children that are in need of presents please send the child’s name, parent’s name and contact information to kadeyonnah79@gmail.com as soon as possible!
- We will be setting up an “angel tree” at The Big Apple Inn (1542 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30310) where you can pick up a ticket with a child’s name and need between December 10-20, 2013.
- Items that will be collected are children’s clothing (all sizes), toys, shoes and outwear (hats, gloves, coats and scarves).
- We will be collecting wrapped items at the Westview Holiday Dinner on December 14, 2013 at 1:00pm. Dinner will be held at Fire Station 17 (1489 Ralph D. Abernathy Boulevard SW).
- The cut off for dropping off wrapped items will be December 20, 2013. Items can be dropped off at 1606 South Gordon St.
- We will also need volunteers to help drop off presents on December 22 from 3:00-5:00pm and December 23 from 5:00-7:00pm. Please send an email to kadeyonnah79@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering.
