On the **THIRD THURSDAY** each month we will gather to socialize at the Westview Pizza Cafe.
This will be a chance to get to know your neighbors in a casual environment and support a locally owned business. Have kids? You can meet other families and setup play dates! Don’t have kids? You can meet neighbors to invite over for dinner (and drinks)! This is a chance to get to know each other and hang out.
If you don’t live in Westview but are interested in moving to the neighborhood this is a great opportunity to meet people that do live here. Just one warning – once you get to know the folks living here you won’t want to look anywhere else! Seriously, we have some awesome neighbors.
We’ll provide one cheese and one pepperoni pizza to get things started. That way you can enjoy a slice while you’re waiting for your own order to come out.
Please mark your calendars and join us!
Atlanta Streets Alive is coming to West End! Atlanta Streets Alive temporarily closes streets to automobile traffic, so residents can use them for bicycling, walking, dancing, playing and fun ways to explore our community streets in a safer, healthier, more livable way. Restaurants will open their doors and food trucks will be available to those looking for a bite to eat. There will be fun for the entire family as we all bring the community to life with music and activity.
This will be the first Atlanta Streets Alive event in SW Atlanta. Past events have drawn up to 82,000+ attendees.
The following streets will be closed to car traffic from 1:00p – 7:00p on April 20th:
- Ralph David Abernathy Blvd (from Langhorn St SW to Murphy Ave SW) all lanes
- Murphy Ave SW (from Ralph David Abernathy to Lee St Connector) all lanes
- Residential White St SW (from Peeples St to Lee St SW) all lanes
The following streets will be open to car traffic as usual to ensure access around and through event:
- North – South Traffic:
- Langhorn Street SW
- Lawton Street
- Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard
- Lee Street SW
- W Whitehall Street
East-West street access will not be affected by streets closed by event.
Westview’s Fire Station 17 was featured in a commercial on Fox 5 for Good Day Atlanta. We already knew they were awesome, but now the whole metro Atlanta area knows too!
Thanks to the Atlanta Preservation Center’s annual Phoenix Flies Celebration event people will be able to enjoy guides tours of the Westview Cemetery during a few days in March.
Preserving the past and serving the future since 1884, Westview Cemetery’s self-guided, small-group and bicycle tours offer ample opportunities to explore the final resting place of many important Atlantans, as well as visit sites such as the Battle of Ezra Church and the beautiful Mausoleum and Abbey Chapel.

On Saturday, March 1, 2014, neighbors and volunteers from outside the community came together to work on the South Gordon Community Garden.
Thanks to a Love Your Block grant Westview neighbors were able to fund a shed for the community garden. Neighborhood architects put together a fancy design and fellow neighbors handy with tools built the shed during the garden workday.
In the meanwhile the Atlanta Community Food Bank organized a group from the First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury, North Carolina, to come clean up the community garden and prepare it for the upcoming spring growing season.
To view photos of the garden work day view the photo gallery below (click “continue reading”) and to tag yourself in photos please visit our Westview Facebook page.

The Westview Community Organization is having it’s annual dues drive to raise money for projects this year. The dues have been reduced to $20 per household. Even if you don’t attend meetings your donation would be greatly appreciated as it goes to support community sponsored projects, events, etc. You can pay online via PayPal, so it’s really quick and easy. The goal is to have a minimum of 50 paid members this year, so please ask your neighbors that aren’t online to help out. Thanks in advance!
