Volunteers cleaning up the garden

March Community Garden Work Day Photos

On Saturday, March 1, 2014, neighbors and volunteers from outside the community came together to work on the South Gordon Community Garden.

Thanks to a Love Your Block grant Westview neighbors were able to fund a shed for the community garden. Neighborhood architects put together a fancy design and fellow neighbors handy with tools built the shed during the garden workday.

In the meanwhile the Atlanta Community Food Bank organized a group from the First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury, North Carolina, to come clean up the community garden and prepare it for the upcoming spring growing season.

2014 Dues Drive

The Westview Community Organization is having it’s annual dues drive to raise money for projects this year. The dues have been reduced to $20 per household. Even if you don’t attend meetings your donation would be greatly appreciated as it goes to support community sponsored projects, events, etc. You can pay online via PayPal, so it’s really quick and easy. The goal is to have a minimum of 50 paid members this year, so please ask your neighbors that aren’t online to help out. Thanks in advance!

On February 20, 2014 the Westview Community Organization sponsored the second monthly “Third Thursday Westview Pizza Night” events at Westview Pizza Café. Westside Trail Design Open House

Westside Trail Design Open House Photos

On February 20, 2014 the Atlanta BeltLine hosted an open house for residents to view the architectural plans of the Westside Trail. The Westside Trail will span from Lena Street in the Washington Park neighborhood, through the Westview neighborhood, to Allene Avenue in the Adair Park neighborhood. The plans outlined locations of retaining walls, access ramps from the streets and neighborhood to the trails, and locations of proposed future transit stops. Construction for the trails are intended to start around September 2014 and will include preparations for the future transit portion, which is also set as part of the Phase I of future development.

Westview Pizza Night: Third Thursdays

Westview Pizza Cafe During Soft OpeningOn the **THIRD THURSDAY** each month we will gather to socialize at the Westview Pizza Cafe.

This will be a chance to get to know your neighbors in a casual environment and support a locally owned business. Have kids? You can meet other families and setup play dates! Don’t have kids? You can meet neighbors to invite over for dinner (and drinks)! This is a chance to get to know each other and hang out.

If you don’t live in Westview but are interested in moving to the neighborhood this is a great opportunity to meet people that do live here. Just one warning – once you get to know the folks living here you won’t want to look anywhere else! Seriously, we have some awesome neighbors.

We’ll provide one cheese and one pepperoni pizza to get things started. After those are gone you’ll have to purchase your own.

Please mark your calendars and join us!
