We’ve waited out the summer heat and now we’re going to do a 2 for 1 with our 3rd quarter “This Old House: Westview” project! We’ll be clearing overgrowth for Ms. Nina as well as cleaning up Westview’s own Stokes Park. Ms. Nina is a neighbor who has struggled to get the overgrowth in her back yard under control. She recently had to dig deep to pay for the removal of a huge dying tree and could use some help getting the rest of the back yard clear she and her grand kids can start next spring with a clean slate in their back yard. Meanwhile, Stokes Park needs some general grounds and tree maintenance.
We need volunteers to do the work as well as provide drinks, snacks, and lunch! Please bring work gloves and drinking water. You can also bring your favorite trimmers, loppers, rakes, or other yard tools!
This Old House: Westview is a quarterly event organized by the Westview Community Organization to assist senior neighbors with needed maintenance, repairs, and improvements to their homes and yards.

It has been just over two months that one of Westview’s newest businesses opened its doors to residents and visitors – Westview Corner Grocery. In its most recent tenure, the space at 1562 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd had been converted to a convenience store in 2009, but had served as one of the neighborhood’s grocery stores dating back to the building’s construction 1949, when it initially housed a Kroger. Over the years different grocery stores, such as Food Town, Thrift Town, White’s, and Denny’s Super Save, called the location home, until Westview residents, Patrick Berry and Steffi Langer-Berry, revived the grocery store model in April 2018. The store now offers a range of products from natural, organic and local products, to craft beer and wine.
