KIPP STRIVE Primary Ribbon Cutting

KIPP STRIVE Primary Ribbon Cutting

On Tuesday, August 20, 2013 the official ribbon cutting ceremony took place for Westview’s KIPP STRIVE Primary School. The elementary charter school, which shares a campus with the KIPP STRIVE Academy middle school, was able to move into the newly constructed $10 million building for its second year of operation. In its first year it shared the adjacent historic school building with its middle school peers.

KIPP STRIVE Primary Construction Progress

A lot of progress has been made on the new KIPP STRIVE Primary school building since we last posted about it in November. With approximately one month left to go until the anticipated ribbon-cutting ceremony, the building, classrooms, and character of the school is taking shape. Before long the building will be bustling with children, teachers, and parents. In the meanwhile take a sneak-peek of the construction by visiting our Westview Facebook page.

KIPP STRIVE Primary Construction

KIPP STRIVE Primary Construction

Construction of the KIPP STRIVE Primary School has been well under way since its groundbreaking in June 2012. The construction of the new school building is being funded thanks to a successful $10 million capital fundraising campaign. The new building is being constructed adjacent to the existing KIPP STRIVE Academy Middle School, which is housed in the nearly 100-year old former J.C. Harris Elementary School building. Kindergarten KIPPsters have started classes in 2012 in the middle school building and are due to move to their brand new classes in the 2013-2014 school year.

KIPP Completes $10 Million Capital Campaign

KIPP Primary Rendering
KIPP Metro Atlanta is pleased to announce the completion of a $10 million capital campaign to fund the construction of our first elementary school in Atlanta, KIPP STRIVE Primary. Thanks to the $5 million challenge grant issued by one of our greatest advocates, the Kendeda Fund, we were able to leverage this support and raise the remaining funds required to construct the facility on the campus of KIPP STRIVE Academy Middle School. Funders include the Joseph B. Whitehead Foundation, the David, Helen, and Marian Woodward Fund, the Tull Foundation, the Besse Johnson & George Blanton Allen Foundation, two anonymous donors, and numerous individuals.

Securing the funds at this time will allow us to begin construction this spring. The founding class of KIPP STRIVE Primary Kindergarten students will share space with KIPP STRIVE Academy Middle School during the 2012-13 school year. The new facility will be completed in time for the begining of the 2013-14 school year.

Such local philanthropic support would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of all our teachers, staff, students and parents who work each and every day to ensure our students have the knowlege and skills necessary to successfully climb the mountain to college.
