SUMMARY:D Cafe: First Saturdays
DESCRIPTION:On the **FIRST SATURDAY** each month we will gather to socialize for brunch at D Cafe. \nThis will be a chance to get to know your neighbors in a casual environment and support a locally owned business. Have kids? You can meet other families and setup play dates! Don’t have kids? You can meet neighbors to invite over for dinner (and drinks)! This is a chance to get to know each other and hang out. \nIf you don’t live in Westview but are interested in moving to the neighborhood this is a great opportunity to meet people that do live here. Just one warning – once you get to know the folks living here you won’t want to look anywhere else! Seriously\, we have some awesome neighbors. \nPlease mark your calendars and join us!

SUMMARY:Cash Mob at Metro Lanes Bowling
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Intown SW Atlanta Cash Mob event series kick-off at Metro Lanes Bowling in Sylvan Hills on Friday\, June 26th between 6:00pm and 12:00am midnight! Show up and get a FREE Cash Mob Sticker. \nWhat are Cash Mobs? \n“Cash Mobs” are events in which we call on all neighbors to patronize a specific business on specific days and times. This shows the business owner the potential of increased business if they agree to adhere to some basic standards. \nWe all love our neighborhoods but how often do we find ourselves feeling like there are far too few high-quality restaurants and grocery stores nearby? In an effort to support local businesses and attract new food and restaurant businesses\, neighborhood leaders of Adair Park\, Capitol View\, Capitol View Manor\, Oakland City\, Pittsburgh\, Sylvan Hills\, West End\, and Westview are working together to encourage economic development in the area. As part of the Cash Mobs we are asking local food businesses to commit to: \n1) Creating a respectful & welcoming environment for all patrons;\n2) Maintaining a clean establishment;\n3) Providing a safe environment (including shopping\, dining\, parking areas\, sidewalks\, etc.);\n4) Providing healthy food options; and\n5) Providing fresh food options. \nIf the establishments agree to these standards\, we will ask our neighbors to go out of their way to support them. \nPublicity \nWhile patronizing the business neighbors are encouraged to: \n1) Use hash tags ‪#‎iswatlcashmob‬ and ‪#‎intownsouthwestatl\n2) Take photos while at the location or with their delivery\n3) Post receipts of how much they spent \nOfficial Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ILoveIntownSWAtlanta

SUMMARY:Infrastructure Bond Voting Day
DESCRIPTION:2015 Proposed Infrastructure Bond Voting Day – March 17\, 2015!\nPlease consider voting “YES” on March 17\, 2015 to approve the proposed infrastructure bond. Westview projects slated for the list include: \n\nCascade Road/Avenue: The project scope may include milling and repaving\, sidewalk & bus stop improvements; bicycle lanes and median/pedestrian refuge islands along Cascade Ave/Road between Delowe Road and Abernathy Boulevard. Estimate: $3\,040\,000\nR. D. Abernathy Blvd: Complete Street improvements inclusive of curbing\, sidewalk and pedestrian improvements from Cascade Avenue to Westview Drive. Resurfacing will be completed by GDOT (separate budget). Estimate: $1\,500\,000\nBeecher Street: Resurfacing from Donnelly Avenue to Ferris Street. Estimate: $456\,300\nR. D. Abernathy/Georgia Avenue: Upgrades along major thoroughfares to optimize signal operations and communications network to ATCC. Estimate: $612\,700\n\nProposed Infrastructure Bond 2015\nMayor Kasim Reed has made a commitment to address the city’s pressing infrastructure challenges. Today\, the city faces an infrastructure backlog of more than $900 million. In order to begin improving our city’s roads\, bridges\, sidewalks and expand our green spaces\, the city is proposing a bond infrastructure referendum to pay for these repairs and improvements. The Departments of Public Works\, Planning and Community Development\, in coordination with the Atlanta City Council\, are seeking public input to determine priority and criteria for project selection for the bond. \nWhat is a Bond?\nBonds are investment opportunities issued by an entity that is authorized to sell bonds to investors. After the bonds are released into the market and investors subscribe to them\, the proceeds are used to finance infrastructure projects. These developments include basic facilities and other projects. The facilities may include transportation and communication systems\, and public buildings. \nWhy do an Infrastructure Bond?\nAtlanta has aging transportation infrastructure: $881M is needed to restore and/or replace existing bridges\, roads\, sidewalks\, street lights\, signals and signs to good condition. \nAtlanta has aging facility infrastructure: $130.8M is needed to restore and/or replace city facilities (fire stations\, police stations\, recreation centers\, etc.) to good condition. \nThe decision will rest with the voters: The City of Atlanta recommends a diversified funding plan to address the infrastructure backlog that begins with a $250M general obligation bond to be presented to the voters in March 2015. \nAdditional Information\nhttp://www.atlantaga.gov/index.aspx?page=1145 \nInquiries related to the Proposed Infrastructure Bond may be sent to:\nCity of Atlanta\nDepartment of Public Works\nOffice of Transportation Capital Projects.\nATTN: Rodney Givens\, P.E.\,\n55 Trinity Avenue\, SW\, Suite 4500\nAtlanta\, GA 30303\nPhone: (404) 330-6739\nEmail: infrastructure@atlantaga.gov\n#RenewATL
